What's is the Silver Cord Program?
At graduation we always recognize outstanding academic achievement, often signified by the gold NHS cords worn by students. While academic achievement is important, we believe that giving back to others, engaging in the community, and passion for change should be valued as well. As a result, the Silver Cord program was created as a way to recognize outstanding community service and volunteerism. There are strict requirements in order to maintain the integrity of the program. If a student meets all of the minimum requirements and follows all expectations, they will be able to purchase silver cords through Ms. Domres to wear at graduation.
How do I Join?
This is simply a program for recognition. If you choose to be part of it, you have to be committed by the end out the 1st quarter of your junior year. To join you must attend one Silver Cord meeting during A+ period within the first month of school. You can drop out at any time and progress will be monitored quarterly throughout each school year. This is only open to juniors and seniors. 25 hours can be submitted prior to junior year (from summer of junior year).
